This study presents the fundamental research on the thermal decomposition behavior of sodium hydride (NaH) in FY2021. This study on the thermal decomposition behavior of NaH was carried out using TG-DTA and FT-IR for the decommissioning of the cold trap in Monju. Due to the weak ionic bonding of Na-H in NaH, the hydrogen is enable to move easily at close to 565K. Upon further heating, the hydrogen desorbs by the thermal decomposition. A simple model using each kinetic rate equations (, , ) can give us the quantitative evaluation of the thermal decomposition behavior of NaH, which tended to overestimated the Na evaporation.

In order to establish a base in Fukui to support research and development of fast reactors and human resource development, various human resource development activities of the Tsuruga Comprehensive Research and Development Center are reported. In the area of international nuclear human resources, we are accepting trainees from Asian countries that are planning to introduce nuclear power generation and international students studying nuclear power. We are also collaborating with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) through the Sodium School. In the area of human resource development in cooperation with local universities and companies, students from the University of Fukui and Fukui University of Technology use the facilities of JAEA in various ways, and JAEA staff members cooperate in university classes. We also provide training using the Fukui Smart Decommissioning Technology Demonstration Base (Sumadeco) and sodium handling and maintenance training facilities. As part of our efforts to prepare children for the future, we provide a wide range of educational support to elementary, junior high and high schools in Fukui Prefecture, and work to encourage children to become interested in science, energy and nuclear power. JAEA will continue to make effective use of the unique facilities and human resources in the Tsuruga area to promote the development of nuclear human resources in Japan and abroad, and to foster experts in nuclear energy in cooperation with local universities and companies.

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is a resin-based composite material reinforced with carbon fiber, which is a high-performance fiber having features such as light weight, high strength, and high rigidity. CFRTP using a thermoplastic resin has a short molding time and is excellent in economy, and the thermoplastic resin melts when heat is applied, so that it can be recycled. On the other hand, CFRP and CFRTP are known as difficult-to-process materials that are difficult to process, and in laser processing, a heat-affected region is generated in which the resin evaporates and carbon fibers are exposed when irradiated with a laser. Since there is a concern that this heat-affected zone will reduce the strength of CFRP and CFRTP, it has become an important issue in recent years to find processing conditions that keep this heat-affected zone small. Search for conditions.

Laser quenching can be locally processed in a shorter time than the conventional method. But, since the quenching depth is shallow, it is limited to some applications. The purpose of this study is to construct a database on laser quenching and to clarify the range of improvement in quenching depth based on the database. In this report, in the process of constructing the database, the internal temperature distribution and temperature transition during laser irradiation were grasped by using the temperature analysis technology, and the heat transfer mechanism during laser quenching was clarified.
